Engineer II-IV, Civil Structural (Architect/Architectural Engineer)
X-Energy
The Role
Overview
Design and engineer site layout, buildings, and structures for Xe-100 nuclear plant.
Key Responsibilities
- cad modeling
- structural design
- fea analysis
- risk assessment
- constructability review
- compliance review
Tasks
-Provide independent reviews and acceptance reviews of engineering deliverables and data. -Write and develop design documentation including design basis documents, technical reports, calculations, and drawings in accordance with applicable procedures. -Ensure compliance with all applicable local, national, and international codes, regulations, and quality standards. -Work with construction teams to evaluate constructability, sequencing, material take-off, cost estimate, schedule development, and modularization concepts for the Xe-100 plant. -Perform, manage, and oversee engineering and construction of the site and building structures for the Xe-100 project. This includes planning, monitoring, and directing of the complete engineering efforts through all development life cycles. -Develop and implement risk-informed performance-based (RIPB) design criteria. Assist other teams to perform risk and hazard assessments, such as probabilistic risk assessment (PRA), failure modes effects analysis (FMEA) and hazard and operability analysis (HAZOP). -Perform, oversee or assist development of computer-aided design (CAD) models and drawings, such as floor plans, general arrangement drawings, or 3D plant models -Perform, oversee or assist civil design, such as site characterization, site development, roadway design, and / or plant layout. -Plan and perform analysis required to assess the SSCs to ensure they can perform their intended functions and meet technical specifications and design requirements. -Support the assessment of SSCs for manufacturability as well as assembly and integration considerations at the direction of project leads. -Apply engineering principles, codes and standards and best practices to design the site, buildings and structures for hazards including seismic, flood and wind. -Support development of plant site/layout and design of buildings/structures through final design and construction of the Xe-100 plant. -Perform, oversee or assist structural design, such as steel structures, concrete structures, and / or composite structures. -Define, manage, and verify the requirements for the site, buildings and structures. Ensure the buildings and structures perform required functions throughout the plant life cycle. Ensure that the requirements in the full life cycle are timely addressed in the system design (e.g., constructability, testability, reliability, maintainability, safety, flexibility, interoperability, etc.). -Identify, define, and manage interfaces with internal and external teams to advance the Xe-100 design. -Perform, oversee or assist structural analysis using engineering tools, including finite element analysis (FEA) simulation software and hand calculations, to assess force / moment, stress / strain, deformation / rotation, degradation behavior, and structural performance of structures and components. -Develop innovative concepts that can be implemented in a cost-effective and schedule-considerate manner while meeting the needs of customers. -Develop Verification and Validation (V&V) plans for analytical tools and support qualification of toolset. -Perform, oversee or assist architectural design, such as building enclosure design, painting and coating, insulation, waterproofing and / or materials. -Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication. -Perform work in accordance with X-energy quality procedures for design and configuration management to ensure project quality requirements are met.
