The Role
Overview
Ensure safety compliance, training, audits, and incident investigations across sites.

Tasks
-Utilize Intelex to ensure all health and safety matters are documented and completed promptly. -Conduct training and culture-building activities with branch teammates to lead with safety in mind. -Teamwork – working as part of a coordinated effort with others to achieve a common goal. This includes encouraging and building mutual trust among team members to ensure alignment on safety processes and initiatives. -Lead our safety performance, ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local safety, occupational health and environmental regulations, including OSHA. -Occasional off prime shift work required to meet with teammates on other shifts. -Inspect facilities/sites, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards and to ensure safety regulation compliance. -Collaborate with peer EHS teammates across Nucor Rebar Fabrication to ensure consistency across divisions and share best practices. -Work with JHSC on audits, program reviews, etc. and help to develop topics and other agenda items for the JHSC meetings. -Spot check all safety logs, sign-off sheets, and other required and regulatory documents. -Conduct safety and compliance inspections according to a defined schedule. -Prepare content and ensure regular Toolbox and Safety Meetings are conducted. -Assist branch in performing annual safety reviews, PPE assessments, equipment certifications, etc. -Maintain a Safety Inspection and Auditing Program. -Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing – Developing specific goals and plans for prioritizing, organizing, and accomplishing individual work and the work of the team to include time management.

What You Bring
-Bachelor's degree related to Occupational Safety and Health/Environmental or 3 years’ experience in a related field. -Must be able to work overtime when required. -Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future. -Communication Skills – The ability to give full attention to what others are saying and communicating information frequently and consistently so that others will understand; excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to express thoughts and ideas verbally and in writing to effectively communicate key information. -Under manufacturing and jobsite conditions, must be able to walk on uneven surfaces, climb stairs and ladders to inspect cranes and equipment is required. -Leadership Presence and Courage - Willingness and confidence to have immediate and direct conversations on critical alignment issues such as teamwork, building relationships, initiating and supporting change. This includes the willingness to face adversity and conflict. -Initiative – Being proactive with seeking out work that needs to be done; identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and being willing to take on responsibilities and challenges. Ability to analyze, problem-solve, and think strategically. -Proficiency with common software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. -Means and ability to travel within region to other branches; occasional travel outside of regions to participate in safety audits. -Understanding of OSHA and EPA laws and regulations affecting the industry. -Some heavy lifting may be necessary. -Independence - Ability to work efficiently with minimal oversight. -Bilingual Spanish/English. -Walking, sitting, standing, bending and typical office activities including hands to operate objects, tools, computers, and other electronic equipment. -Frequent and extensive travel 50-85% of the time to jobsites. -Dependability – Being reliable, responsible, and committed to fulfilling obligations and supporting the team. -Process Safety Management and Risk Management Plan experience. -Experience working with Safety Management Systems and standards in a manufacturing environment.
