Tasks

This hands-on role provides direct technical support to the engineering design group across manufacturing, quality assurance, and testing, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of performance and reliability. As an R&D Support Engineer within Orica’s Digital Solutions, Orebody Intelligence (OBI) group, you will work closely with our multidisciplinary engineering team to help document, build, test, and sustain innovative geophysical and digital mining technologies. You will play an active part in New Product Introduction (NPI), ensuring a smooth transition from engineering design to commercial production. -Assisting with quality assurance, verification/validation testing, and root cause analysis for technical issues. -Helping develop and maintain documentation including BOMs, assembly/test procedures, and calibration guides. -Collaborating with cross-functional teams and coordinating with Supply Chain to resolve issues and ensure material availability. -Providing hands-on technical support across system assembly, integration, maintenance, and lifecycle activities. -Supporting R&D evaluations and contributing to design improvements through data collection and analysis. -Facilitating NPI and ensuring accurate records of builds, configurations, and quality results.

What You Bring

To be considered, you must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident. -Familiarity with a CAD package. -Strong practical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. -Practical hands-on experience in assembly and system integration (mechanical and electronics). -Clear communication skills and willingness to learn new technologies. -Degree qualifications in Mechatronics or Electronics. -Task ownership with strong attention to safety, detail, and quality. -Ability to interpret technical drawings and documentation and working knowledge of Bill of Materials.
