The Role

Overview

Manage electrical engineering projects, oversee design, budgeting, and team coordination.

Tasks

-Prepare the development of all system engineering concepts (e.g. design brief) and concept report. Reviews and manages the design in terms of construction budgets. -Respond to Request for Proposals, including liaising with clients and establishing project fees and scope. -Involved with initiating and executing operational improvements to the local electrical team. -Provide assistance, coaching and mentoring to team members. -Perform, or arrange for, reviews of existing installation and interprets/manages the impact on the project. -Promote and enforce company standards relating to project administration, documentation and processes such as total quality management. -Responsible for reviewing all deliverables for the project whether reports, calculations, drawings, or/and specifications. Reviews for completeness and accuracy at various stages of development. -Assign tasks to project team where appropriate. Responsible for ensuring tasks are completed both accurately and within the assigned hours/fee. -Support the process of accounts receivable. -Keep the Principal-in-charge or Senior Associate advised of all changes in scope of work and prepares amendments to the contract (e.g. Request of Additional fee-RAF) for review and submission to client. -Act as contract administrator for designated projects, ensuring timely completion of all contract administration activities for project. -Prepare all calculations and select all equipment.

What You Bring

-Possess sound communication skills as demonstrated through client and staff relations. -Must have LEED Green Associate or specialty designation, or obtain a LEED Green Associate designation within 6 months of the start of employment. -Demonstrate a strong leadership qualities and ability to work independently. -Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, MS Project. -Have excellent problem solving and decision-making skills. -Knowledgeable about the provincial building code, electrical code, CSA, ULC, IEEE, IES and NFPA standards -Possess 10 or more years of experience as a Project Manager, managing and engineering projects of increasing complexity in the field of electrical building services -Display strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks. -Demonstrate the ability to work in a complex environment, dealing with multiple projects and clients. -Hold a valid Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or Professional Licensee (P.L.Eng) designation, registered with APEGA to authenticate Professional Work Products. -Knowledge of CAD/Revit and asset -Fully understand (construction) project procurement methodologies and is able to recommend or apply such method for the project -Demonstrate experience working with other consultants and contractors, and coordination of major projects. -Fully understand codes and standards relevant for the project and is able to communicate all requirements to the internal project team, external project team, owner, and authorities having jurisdiction. -Experience managing major projects in a variety of industry types including healthcare, institutional and recreational experience considered an asset.
