Tasks
-Participate in all safety related processes and programs as requested. Engage with your work team to ensure we achieve zero injuries. Understand that no job is so important that your safety and that of your crew will be compromised. Watch for hazards and report any concerns to your supervisor or safety professional. If needed, use your stop work authority until the issue is resolved. -Produce quality work, meeting requirements of plans, specifications and industry standards. -Help lubricate, clean, or repair machinery, equipment, or tools. -Report all accidents and near misses to supervisor; participate in investigation process as needed. -Work around hazardous equipment. -Attend site specific training and assure you follow all procedures as out lined in training. -Use appropriate hand (i.e. hammer, screwdriver, broom, sledge hammer) and power tools (i.e. sand blasting equipment, grinders, hand compactors) to perform a variety of functions including, but not limited to, digging, spreading and leveling dirt and gravel, using pick, shovel and wheel barrow. -Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment. -Actively participate in on‐the‐job training and mentoring opportunities with co‐workers in your craft when provided. -Listen to co‐workers suggestions, safety concerns, and recommendations giving full attention to what they are saying and take the time to understand the points being made, asking questions and providing feedback when appropriate. • Coordinate work with other crafts and co‐workers on the job. -Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure. -With regard to that portion of the work assigned, assist in the storage, planning and lay‐out of materials in accordance with those plans and specifications. Assist journeymen in laying out work and learn to perform layout independently. -Perform cleaning, compacting, grading, painting, sanding or stripping operations; worker may spend time on one job or may be transferred from task to task as the project progresses to completion. -Clean tools, equipment, material, and work areas; mix, pour and spread concrete, asphalt, gravel and other materials. -Stand, Kneel, Bend, Stoop, move in and around confined and cluttered places (e.g. bucket truck), and uneven areas, see and hear naturally or with correction. -Participate in all pre‐job work planning and safety discussions; Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate and/or mitigate hazards. -Climb and maintain balance on utility poles, stairs, ladders, platforms, and scaffolds. -Lift, carry, hold and move building materials, tools, and supplies. -Push, pull, reach, lift, and carry objects such as tools, cable, materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. -Learn to observe functioning of installed equipment or systems to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement. Notify supervision of any hazards observed and utilize safety stop work authority as needed. -Perform a variety of routine, non‐machine tasks, such as removing forms from set concrete, filling expansion joints with asphalt, placing culvert sections in trench, assembling sections of dredge pipeline, driving stakes. -Work at heights above 10 feet to access fiber optic cables and enclosures.

-NCCER Construction Craft Laborer NCCER Core preferred -Requires working in extremely bright or low lighting conditions. -Use effective verbal and written communication skills. -Understand and respond appropriately to all safety hazards and warning devices (i.e. back‐up alarms, smell of smoke, different colored warning tags, warning sirens). -Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32F degrees) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc. -Requires repetitive movement. -Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties. -Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable, including traffic. -Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions. -Requires working in cramped work spaces and getting into awkward positions. -Learn to read and understand plans and specifications. Visualize two dimensional drawings in three dimensions. -Curriculum or equivalent Craft Training Program preferred
