Tasks

The Senior Air Scientist will lead a team of up to 10 junior and mid-level air scientists, providing guidance and direction while working productively in a team setting. -Serves as a technical expert on air monitoring and sampling in client interactions. -Calibration and maintenance of multi-media monitoring and sampling equipment. -Exercises judgment in selecting methods and approaches when standard procedures are inadequate. -Documentation of field activities and preparation of daily and final reports. -Maintains readiness for immediate mobilization. -Prepares reports on methods and procedures as part of overall project documentation. -Delivers completed projects, including draft and final reports, within budget and schedule. -Project scope may include asbestos sampling, vapor intrusion sampling, soil gas sampling, drum sampling, air monitoring, and air sampling for mercury and metals. -Conducts sampling techniques that yield sound scientific data for evaluation reports. -Determines optimal data gathering, database management, and analysis methods to meet project goals.

What You Bring

U.S. Citizenship Required Weston is seeking a Senior Air Scientist to support scheduled and time-critical responses to site-related environmental issues, including disaster/emergency response, environmental investigations, and remedial alternative analysis. This individual will serve as a project leader, supervising junior air science professionals and technicians, and will be responsible for developing and implementing sampling/monitoring and data collection plans. Proficiency in multi-media, multi-matrix sampling techniques and associated analytical methods is essential. -Broad knowledge of calibration, maintenance, deployment, use, and data collection for handheld, portable, and transportable air sampling and monitoring devices. -Proficiency with field instrumentation, including calibration, field implementation, and result interpretation. -40-Hour HAZWOPER certification. -Proficient in writing technical documents and plans. -Familiarity with the Incident Command System (ICS), especially ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 courses (completion is a plus). -Leadership experience managing up to 10 junior and mid-level air scientists. -Ability to work collaboratively under the supervision of an Operations Coordinator and Program Manager. -Experience preparing Site-Specific Quality Assurance Project Plans and Technical Reports. -Ability to work in PPE Levels D/C/B/A. -Ability to respond to hazardous material releases and conduct site assessments. -Familiarity with PPE levels and ability to enter potentially hazardous areas. -Minimum of a B.S. Degree and 10 years of recent and relevant experience with air sampling/monitoring protocols (relevant experience may substitute for education). -Capable of planning and leading site-wide environmental investigations. -Availability for nationwide emergency response, with travel up to two weeks at a time (approximately 25% annually). -Experience in developing and implementing sampling/monitoring and data collection plans. -Experience with air monitoring instruments such as AreaRAE, AreaRAE Pro, MultiRAE Pro, SPM Flex, TSI DustTrak, FID/PID, Mercury Analyzers, and data telemetry systems. -Self-motivated and team-oriented, with the ability to operate equipment using manuals or SOPs. -Knowledge of vapor intrusion sampling using summa canisters and Tedlar bags. -Skilled in preparing technical reports and performing desktop reviews of historical site data. -Strong computer skills and ability to quickly learn new software.
