  • Prepare report and technical memorandum
  • Prepare construction drawings, quantities, cost estimates and specifications
  • Develop Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP)
  • Design Stormwater Best Management Practice (BMPs) or SWM facilities to meet state and local requirements
  • Perform technical work in various software applications, including but not limited to MicroStation, Openroads Designer, Civil 3D, PCSWMM, StormCAD, PondPack, HEC-RAS, and ARC-GIS
  • Develop drainage and Stormwater Management Design for Transportation improvement projects
  • Assist with roadway project development and other misc. civil engineering tasks for project design and delivery
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, analysis, and modeling

  • Ability to deliver quality projects for a wide range of clients
  • 4+ years related experience required
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
  • Previous VDOT Drainage design experience and strong knowledge of VDOT standards and procedures preferred
  • H&H analysis
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or an equivalent related degree is required
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Land disturbance permits and storm water pollution prevention plans (SWPPP)
  • A mix of technical and project management experience including, but not limited to:
  • Virginia Beach/Hampton Road experience is a plus
  • A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
  • Professional Engineer license preferred or working towards obtaining a PE license in the near future
  • Strong writing, oral communication, and teamwork skills
