The Role

Overview

Operate metal manufacturing equipment, ensure safety, quality, and material handling

Tasks

-Practice hand safety and follow hazardous communication protocols. -Manage waste streams, including scrap metal and environmental considerations. -Interpret blueprints and ensure production meets shop standards. -Utilize measuring tools such as tape measures, scales, micrometers, calipers, and squares. -Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and complete Job Safety Analysis (JSA) comprehension and sign-off. -Handle materials safely, including identification, labeling, inventory, and cycle counts. -Operate forklifts and perform crane pre-use inspections and operations. -Implement 5S methodology and handle quality spills and engineering tasks. -Conduct crane rigging, use slings and lift devices safely. -Perform material selection, handling, setup, and programming for specific tasks. -Perform machine guarding and basic machine maintenance, including pre-use inspections and blade changes. -Perform data entry for quality tracking and use SAP for confirmations, picking, and material lookup. -Identify defects and ensure quality control. -Maintain housekeeping standards. -Perform plasma cutting and plate roller operations. -Apply basic shop math for measurements, geometry, volume, and area calculations. -Maintain attention to detail and meet or exceed production standards. -Operate and maintain chop saws, shears, drill presses, pedestal grinders, sanders, and saws. -Handle pipe threading, tubing bending, and kitting operations. -Operate computer systems for email, safety skills, Workday, and SharePoint. -Select and use task-specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). -Tear down and clean equipment such as dwell tanks and heatshields. -Conduct waterjet, gun drill, and painting operations, including surface preparation and sand blasting. -Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. -Perform precision measurements and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT). -Ensure grinding safety and control of hazardous energy (LOTO).

What You Bring

-Minimum of 1-3 years of experience is required -High school diploma or equivalent. -Plate Process: : Demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of the metal plate processing including rolling, punching, inserting, forming, etc. See skills matrix for detailed requirements. -Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. -Inventory Control: Demonstrate ability to control assigned materials and account for them throughout the manufacturing process. -Advanced Wire Processing: : Demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of the wire processing including the operation of cold forming equipment. See skills matrix for detailed requirements. -Machining: Demonstrate ability to perform basic manual mill operation to complete simple machining tasks. -Proficiently operate saws, disc waterblast, water jet, gun drill, and press break equipment. -Basic computer skills (email, safety skills, Workday). -Good communication and teamwork skills. -Use common hand tools effectively. -Proficiency in SAP and precision measurement tools. -Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. -Proficiency: See Alloy Department Skills Matrix for requirements for task specific activities. -Hot Process: Demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of the hot processes (melting). See skills matrix for detailed requirements. -Standing for extended periods. -Demonstrate proficiency in SAP for material movements and SLOC/bin locations. -Solve problems, perform rework, and adapt to non-routine tasks. -Mounting/Shipping: : Demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of the mounting and shipping process. See skills matrix for detailed requirements. -Ability to read and interpret blueprints. -Inspection: Demonstrate ability to recognize product defects during the manufacturing process. This includes the ability to make adjustments to process as needed to reduce defects. -Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds. -Adhere to safe work habits to protect self and others. -Machining: Demonstrate ability to complete basic CNC lathe operation for making in-tolerance product.
