Tasks

Every employee is responsible for their own safety and the safety of others in the workplace and has a duty to report any issues or perceived risks to their line manager in the first instance or the Health and Safety department. As Bid Writer, you will play a pivotal role in the business development process, responsible for producing compelling, high-quality proposals and tender submissions. You will work closely with the Head of Preconstruction, estimators, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure bids are strategically aligned, technically accurate, and commercially competitive. -Support post-submission activities including clarifications and presentations. -Research and analyse tender opportunities from public and private sector clients. -Maintain a library of standard responses, case studies, and project references. -Manage bid timelines and submission schedules to ensure deadlines are met. -Write, edit, and proofread bid content, ensuring clarity, consistency, and compliance with client requirements. -Coordinate input from technical and operational teams to develop winning responses. -Monitor industry trends and competitor activity to inform bid strategy.

What You Bring

-Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with bid management tools is a plus. -Accessible processes to deal with work-related complaints and grievances -Proven experience in bid writing, preferably within civil engineering, highways, or construction sectors. -Familiarity with public sector procurement processes (e.g., NEC contracts, frameworks). -Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure. -Knowledge of street lighting and highways maintenance terminology and practices. -Excellent written and verbal communication skills. -Ability to interpret technical information and translate it into persuasive content. -APMP or similar bid/proposal management qualification. -Experience working with local authorities and Tier 1 contractors.
