The Role

Overview

Perform utility locating, GPS data capture, and field verification for SUE projects.

Tasks

-Conduct yourself in a professional and courteous manner at all times while dealing with any/all of the following: fellow employees, utility representatives, public or private industry, etc. -Operate EM induction locating equipment and accessories, magnetic bar finder, etc. -Document field work with photographs, field sheets, other digital forms, etc. -Ensure adherence to all our procedures, processes and systems. -Ensure accuracy and efficiency in the acquisition of field data -Review and understand utility maps in various formats and from various sources -Locate and mark underground utilities -Maintain accurate records (data, timesheets, expenses, etc.) -Participate and engage in team meetings -Travel to other cities, work in variety of settings/conditions; occasional night work, weekends, etc., -Conduct day-to-day job tasks in accordance with legislated and Company dictated Environmental, Health and Safety mandates -Operate a PC and GPS receiver systems

What You Bring

-1-2 years of experience using a Trimble GPS unit for the purpose of capturing field data -2 to 5 years of related experience in utility locating (private and/or public utilities); -Excellent communication skills -Experience using Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.) -Self-organizing and able to prioritize, strong ability to multi- task -Experience reading and understanding various utility maps such as utility schematics, as-builts, CAD drawings, blueprints, etc. -Willing to work outside in a variety of weather conditions for extended periods -1-2 years of experience with obtaining invert/obvert measurements -1-2 years of experience with co-ordinating traffic control in respect to vacuum excavation (test pits), inverts and other road work -Excellent problem-solving and trouble shooting skills with the ability to think outside of the box -Valid ORCGA DPT Certification with multiple utilities is an asset -Valid Ontario drivers licence with a clean MTO drivers abstract
