Tasks

-Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the growth of the data science community -Collaborate with product leadership and engineering teams to define the product roadmap -Develop and implement A/B tests and other experimental designs to measure product impact -Communicate complex data findings and recommendations clearly and concisely -Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in data science and analytics -Lead a new team, leveraging cutting-edge data science to develop products that accelerate the energy transition and enhance customer experience -Analyze product usage to monitor performance and inform prioritisation

What You Bring

We're looking for an experienced data scientist to build products that will accelerate the green transition and delight our customers. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on core data problems at a company passionate about building great technology to change how customers use energy and move us closer to Net Zero. The successful candidate will report directly to the Global Head of Product, a member of Octopus’ senior leadership team. We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans. If you would like more information about how your data is processed, please contact us. -Streamlit for data applications -SQL for analytics -Experience in utility companies or other data-intensive industries -Experience managing and nurturing junior data scientists -End-to-end experience in designing and building data products using large datasets -Python as our main programming language -Circle CI for continuous deployment -Kubernetes for data services and task orchestration -Parquet and Delta file formats on S3 for data lake storage -Hands-on experience with cutting-edge tools, including those in our data platform stack (as below) -DBT for data modellingSpark -Broad experience applying various analytical techniques at companies of different sizes -Spark for data processing
