The Role

Overview

Lead landscape architecture projects, manage teams, client relations, and business development.

Tasks

-Communicate with external vendors throughout the design process. -Maintain and develop client relationships. -Participate in recruitment, training, and onboarding of new employees. -Work closely with project managers to maintain project deadlines, budgets, milestones, deliverables, and communicate this information to team members. -Develop responses to public RFPs and qualifications-based proposals and prepare presentations and interview for prospective work. -Coordinate with Directors and firm leadership on strategic planning and visioning and set clear business strategy for the landscape architecture department. -Collaborate with project managers and design team to develop systems of organization. -Collaborate with Directors to coordinate concept visioning sessions. -Manage external consultants and project teams with planning, site layout, and construction documents. -Assist Marketing and Director to build Timmons Group brand recognition, positioning, and impact through business development, awards, and market awareness. -Collaborate with project managers and team members on a variety of project types and scales. -Provide QA/QC from concept to documentation. -Assist teams in preparing construction cost estimates. -Build and maintain strong A/E partnerships and teaming relationships to position for strategic projects and pursuits. -Develop design proposals for private development work. -Manage and supervise internal landscape architecture and civil engineer project teams with planning, site layout, and landscape design documents. -Assist project teams with development of design documents through all phases of work. -Assist teams in preparing specifications. -Review project budgets, coordinate billing and invoicing, and analyze monthly reports. -Participate in construction administration responsibilities. -Act as an advocate and committed mentor for Timmons Group’s next generation of talent; build talent pipeline through recruiting and outreach with local design communities and universities. -Attend weekly and monthly meetings to coordinate projects and workplans. -Collaborate with the Directors to cultivate innovation, design initiatives, standards, and structure for the landscape architecture department. -Mentor staff in professional growth, development, and career advancement; advocate for landscape architecture at Timmons Group.

What You Bring

-Well organized and detail oriented. -LEED or SITES Accreditation is preferred but not required. -Team player with excellent design, graphic, communication, and presentation skills. -Experience of project accounting and demonstrated ability to manage project schedules and budgets. -Experience in construction administration and specifications. -Bachelor or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program. -Experience in producing high-quality concept presentations and documentation sets. -Professional registration as a Virginia Licensed Landscape Architect or ability to obtain reciprocity quickly. -Experience in business development and client development. -Understanding of Microsoft Suite applications, BlueBeam PDF, and construction management software(s). -Knowledge in design software including AutoCAD, Land F/X, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and 3D modeling programs. -A minimum of 12 years’ professional experience in landscape architecture is preferred. -Experience with both in-office and remote project management.
