The Role

Overview

Perform traffic analyses, design control devices, and prepare reports on a temporary on‑call basis.

Tasks

-Prepare high quality technical reports, presentations, and design plans -Provide traffic engineering support for projects ranging from small scale studies and designs for isolated intersections to complex solutions for urban arterial networks and major highway systems -Prepare design plans for a wide range of traffic control devices including traffic signals, signing and pavement markings, temporary traffic control, lighting, and Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS). -Communicate technical information to non-technical audiences -Use microsimulation tools such as Synchro, SimTraffic and VISSIM to plan, visualize & analyze traffic-related projects -Perform traffic engineering tasks including transportation safety evaluations, traffic operations analyses, and traffic control device design.

What You Bring

-Available to work an on-call/seasonal non-fixed schedule -Prior internship experience in Traffic or Transportation Engineering -Exposure to MicroStation and/or AutoCAD -Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (F.E.) exam OR have the ability to take and pass the FE exam within 12 months of employment -Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field with Traffic or Transportation focus -Exposure to traffic related software (HCS, Synchro, SimTraffic, VISSIM) -Experience with MS Word/Excel/Access -Strong writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills -Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
