The Role

Overview

Design and manage highway/roadway infrastructure projects for NY and neighboring states

Tasks

-Develop roadway, sidewalk, intersection design, including roundabouts, traffic signals, interchanges, and other highway infrastructure. -Project coordination between multiple internal disciplines and may serve as a direct contact for clients, other design professionals, and contractors. -Perform QA/QC on work products from drafters and design engineers. May act as quality coordinator for discipline led projects. -Apply diversified engineering principles and practices to our highway/roadway engineering operations as well as supporting bridge, rail, and water resources disciplines as needed. -Take the lead in technical design aspects including design development and the creation of plans, specifications, estimates, calculations, design reports, and construction documents. -May attend project meetings and assist in presentations to clients and the public. -Assist in the education, development, and mentoring of staff and act as a resource for design questions. Provide some delegation and supervision of design engineers.

What You Bring

-Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions. -Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is required; PE license or able to obtain within 6 months of hire is preferred. -5+ years of infrastructure engineering design experience is preferred; drainage experience is a plus. -Basic project management tasks such as staffing, scope and proposal writing, scheduling and budgeting as appropriate for experience level. -Familiarity of working with Local Design Services Agreement (LDSA) infrastructure projects. -Willing to work independently and with others as a team member. -Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering is required. -Previous software experience with MicroStation, InRoads/OpenRoads Designer, and/or Civil 3D is a plus. -Previous NYSDOT, NYSTA, and/or Locally Administered Federal Aid Project experience is a plus. -A willingness to adapt and grow, continually learning, and expanding career skills.
