The Role

Overview

Assist drilling crew, operate rigs, collect soil/rock samples, and support geotechnical tasks.

Tasks

-Assists Driller to manipulate, load, and unload drill rig tooling -Assist in assembling and disassembling drill tooling potentially including but not limited to the following: solid-flight augers, hollow-stem augers, rock core barrel assembly kits, Shelby tube samplers, split-spoon samples, etc. -Prepare tooling and supplies for the day’s tasks -Interact with geotechnical engineers and project managers to understand drilling assignments and to relate field information to the office -Assist in the operations of various drilling rigs -Assists with the identification of boring locations through the use of GPS equipment -Must be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work -Cleaning and maintaining equipment as well as assisting in site clean up responsibilities -Operate support vehicle equipment -Retrieval and logging of soil/rock samples -Assist with soil drilling, rock coring, soil/rock sampling, classifications, in-situ testing, and monitoring well installation

What You Bring

-Ability to climb occasionally -Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold) for the majority of the day -Must be able to work off shifts and overtime -Ability to receive work instructions and follow tasks -Requires basic math skills -Ability to lift, move, push and pull up to 50 pounds frequently. Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance -Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound -Valid Driver’s License and reliable driving record (required) -Must be able to travel up to 5% of the time -HS Education or Equivalent (preferred) -Experience assisting with drilling operations is preferred, but not required – WE WILL TRAIN! -Ability to kneel and squat occasionally -Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal & written communication -Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
