Audio-Visual Systems Installation Technician

Overview

Installs, configures, and maintains AV systems in commercial settings.

Tasks

-Travel to job sites required; occasional overnight stays. -Mount racks, displays, speakers, and other AV gear following drawings and manufacturer specs. -Integrate systems with control platforms (e.g., Crestron, Extron, AMX). -System configuration and testing of AV equipment as needed to resolve issues. -Install AV equipment including displays, projectors, speakers, microphones, video walls, and control systems. -Provide on-site and remote technical support as needed. -Configure and test AV systems to ensure proper functionality. -Perform system checks, calibrations, and quality control inspections. -Document installation progress, wiring labels, and as-built changes. -Pull, terminate, and label AV and network cabling (HDMI, CAT6, coax, fiber, speaker wire, etc.). -Communicate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure alignment with project goals. -Assist in servicing and maintaining AV systems post-installation. -Interpret AV system designs, construction drawings, and signal flow diagrams. -Troubleshoot and resolve issues with signal flow, control, and audio levels.

What You Bring

-Familiarity with AV signal types (HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA, audio, digital/analog). -Ability to work in various environments, including outdoor and indoor installations. -Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and blueprints. -Ability to obtain formal approved clearances, required. -Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds. -Physically demanding work climbing ladders, lifting equipment, working in ceilings and other tight spaces. -Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. -CTS or manufacturer certifications (e.g., Extron, Crestron); this would be a plus! -OSHA safety certification, preferred. -Experience in commercial AV installation, 1-3 years preferred. -Valid Driver’s License and a clean Motor Vehicle Record, required. -Ability to use hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner. -Ability to lift heavy equipment and work on ladders or lifts. -Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent, required. -Formal education in Electronics or related field, preferred -Skilled in cable pulling, soldering, crimping, and connector termination.
