The Role

Overview

Operate heavy-haul tractor-trailers to transport construction equipment across sites.

Tasks

-Daily pre-shift vehicle and equipment inspections; maintain daily log. -Maintains Company vehicle in a clean and orderly state inside and out at all times . -Inspect tractor-trailer before and after trip. -Perform daily safety checks and required fluid checks , filter check s, etc. -Properly track and document activity log. -Work in areas of uneven terrain . -S afely load and unload heavy equipment such as excavators, rock trucks, dump trucks, dozers, and various heavy equipment accessories on to and off 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 13 axle lowboy (RGN) trailers . -Represents Saiia by presenting a positive image to internal and external customers and vendors. -Adheres to all company, client, and project policies, procedures, standards, including but not limited to the safety manual, and the employee handbook . -Report any issues or incidents to Mobilization S upervisor . -Inspect , clean, and perform minor repairs to equipment using hand tools and / or report malfunctions to Mobilization S upervisor. -The operator is expected to use their experience and judgment to make good driving decisions. -Read and interpret equipment operators’ manuals.

What You Bring

-Mechanical knowledge and ability preferred. -Approach and complete work in a meticulous, thorough and timely manner. -Minimum of five years over the road driving experience, heavy wrecker experience, construction-based equipment mobilization, or a suitable combination of each. -Familiar with FMCSA and DOT regulations, permitting and routing. -Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. -High school education or G.E.D required . -Must have and maintain a valid state issued CDL Class A-Driver’s License with driving record that meets Saiia’s risk management guidelines. -Ability to l oad and unload various types of heavy equipment used in the construction industry on to and off 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 13 axle lowboy (RGN) trailers . -Must be able to maintain acceptable attendance standards per employee handbook. -Ability to use email, smart phone, tablet, or computer to manage company information and documents. -Must have a sense of responsibility for the safety of the public, the work crew, self, and all other employees. -Ability to work as an individual contributor and as a part of a team. -Read and comprehend site-specific rules , maintenance instructions , and training manuals . -This position reports to Mobilization at the Corporate office and may be required to travel locally 50% of the time and out of town 50% of the time. -Safe l y operate tractor-trailer combination with load on state and federal highway systems, through local traffic , high volume traffic, and open road situations . -Must maintain an acceptable driving record. -Exposure to extreme temperatures– hot and cold.
