The Role
Overview
Supervises building maintenance, custodial services, and staff at DVA facility.

Tasks

Log in daily to your JobAps Personal Status Board to track your status and check email (including spam/junk folders) for updates and tasks. -Responds to emergencies on twenty-four hour basis; -Ensures that proper temperatures are maintained; -Provide support to a division that is passionate about improving the lives of those we serve; -building custodial care, minor maintenance and operations; -May supervise building security, transportation, mail, stores, parking areas, and/or grounds; -Develops or makes recommendations on the development of policies and standards; -inspect and diagnose repair and improvement needs and to recommend and follow through on solutions; -Schedules, assigns, oversees and reviews the work of staff. -Acts as liaison with other operating units, agencies and outside officials regarding unit policies and procedures; -Ensures that rooms are properly set up for special events; -Determines priorities and plans building maintenance work. -May conduct new product and equipment testing; -Prepares reports and correspondence; -Supervises minor repair work not requiring the services of tradesworkers; -Investigates reports of willful or malicious damage to state property; -Conducts performance evaluations. -Provides staff training and assistance; -Establishes and maintains building maintenance procedures. -Inspects property for defective lighting, plumbing, heating, ventilating, and similar facilities and equipment and assigns staff to remedy same or reports to supervisor; -Conducts regular and special inspections to ensure compliance with standards; -Maintains inventory of furniture and equipment and requisitions replacements and supplies; -Prepares bid specifications and cost estimates; -handle problems in one or more areas such as security, transportation, or stores; -Conducts performance evaluations; -Determines priorities and plans building maintenance work; -Reviews work completed by contract employees; -Schedules, assigns, oversees and reviews the work of staff; -Provides staff training and assistance.

What You Bring

If requested, RQs can be accessed via an email sent to you after the job close date or by visiting your JobAps Personal Status Board (Certification Questionnaires section). -Experience providing services for a facility that operates 24/7/365. -relevant state and federal laws, statutes and regulations; -Experience planning and prioritizing building and grounds maintenance projects. -Considerable knowledge of -A physical examination may be required. -Ability to -Experience overseeing preventative maintenance schedules. -Experience with prioritizing simultaneous work requests. -interpersonal skills; -Incumbents in this class must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility and visual and auditory acuity, and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties. -Supervisory ability. -Experience in facilities staff supervision including creating work assignments, preparing performance reviews, and conducting employee training.
