The Role

Overview

Install, maintain, test, and troubleshoot single‑phase, polyphase and transformer‑rated meters.

What You Bring

-Prior experience with communication protocols (ie DNP, MODBUS, etc.) -Familiarity with basic computer operations and able to run common application programs such as Microsoft Office Products. -Familiarity with watt-hour metering and associated equipment including installing, testing, troubleshooting and programming of meters. -Prior experience with electrical schematics, electrical troubleshooting and installations -Knowledge of basic/electrical principles and demonstrated proficiency in basic math skills -Daily work received and completed via mobile laptops in trucks -Knowledge of high-end metering installations including JemStar, ION, Q1000 and translate meters -occasional work at elevated heights from a ladder, platform or bucket -Squatting, lifting and carrying up to 60 pounds is required to handle testing equipment and materials -Knowledge and experience working with Mobile Work Management Systems (SS9) application as well as other Duke applications such as Maplink, CBIS, Powertrack, etc.. -Knowledge of Interchange Tie-Testing, Wholesale/Transmission metering and Plant Metering. -Valid Driver's License -Effective Written and verbal communications skills necessary for customer and team interaction. -Associate or higher degree from an accredited tech school or college in electronics engineering technology, electrical engineering technology, computer engineering technology or communications technology. OR have 3-5 years prior field work experience relevant to job description or comparable work experience -Demonstrated problem solving and general troubleshooting skills. -Subject to call out, extension of day, and weekend work for scheduled projects or emergency restoration work -Driving is required on a daily basis and occasional overnight stays -Frequent customer contact often involving conflict resolution -Ability to pass background screening to become NERCI-CIP compliant -Prior experience with telecommunications devices (i.e. Wireless, Cellular, RS 232/474, ethernet) -Knowledge of service area within reporting location. -Knowledge of Electric distributions systems, e.g. different services types and voltages
