  • All assigned personnel must also complete OSHA 10 hour training (training paid by WRA) and assist with completion of OOC Resume Packages for SHA approval prior to assignment to contracts. Verification of satisfactory SHA OOC annual consultant inspector appraisals required.
  • Moving around active project sites, which may involve climbing ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, or poles
  • Performing physical activities such as bending, twisting, kneeling, and climbing
  • Lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds and/or carting objects up to 50 lbs distances up to 50 yards.

The work environment may include exposure to a range of environmental conditions, including high and low temperatures, precipitation, and other outdoor elements. Work may also be performed in noisy conditions or confined/enclosed spaces.

WRA is currently seeking qualified construction inspectors to serve various Local and State clients in the Baltimore region.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future. WRA will not sponsor applicants for U.S. work visa status for this opportunity. (no sponsorship is available for H-1B, L-1, TN, O-1, E-3, H-1B1, F-1, J-1, OPT, CPT or any other employment-based visa)

  • Must have the ability to read/interpret plans and specifications
  • Basic computer skills (Word & Excel) are desirable as well as experience with using computer laptops or field tablets for preparing electronic IDRs and photographic documentation
  • Repetitive motions involving the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Must have the writing and drawing skills necessary to complete inspection reports and sketch books
  • Must have a current SHA Temporary Traffic Control Manager’s Training Course Card (or secure the same prior to work assignment) as well as MDE RPC Card and SHA E&S Yellow Card.
  • Candidates must also have all applicable MARTCP certificates (based on contract assignment type),
  • Remaining in a stationary position—either standing or sitting—for extended periods of time
  • Driving to and from project sites which may involve distances of up to or exceeding 75 miles round trip.
  • High School diploma or State Equivalency Certificate
  • Walking and navigating across rough or uneven terrain such as mud, rocks, grass, dirt, steep hillsides, heavily wooded areas, and other unpaved surfaces
  • Must have good communication skills
  • TET II - Junior level technician with 1 year of relevant industry experience, with minimal certification.
  • TET III - Mid level technician with 3 years of relevant transportation inspection experience in bridge and/or roadway construction with several accompanying certifications.
  • Applicants must have demonstrated construction inspection experience with assorted interstate, roadway, bridge, storm drainage, TMDL and building facility contracts involving MDOT SHA construction standards and specifications as well as experience with OOC construction inspection contract documentation including preparing Inspector Daily Reports (IDRs), Force Account Records, reconciling Contractor Monthly Invoicing and providing detailed weekly progress reports related to both project progress and budget.
  • TET IV - Senior level technician with 5 years of relevant transportation inspection experience in bridge and/or roadway construction with all accompanying certifications.
  • Must be able to function safely in an environment with potential risks, including, but not limited to those described in this document.
  • Applicant must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record and personal vehicle for travel to and from assigned construction sites.
  • TET V - Project Manager with 8 years of relevant transportation inspection experience in heavy highway, bridge and roadway construction with all accompanying certifications.
  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant transportation experience.TET II - Junior level technician with 1 year of relevant industry experience, with minimal certification. TET III - Mid level technician with 3 years of relevant transportation inspection experience in bridge and/or roadway construction with several accompanying certifications. TET IV - Senior level technician with 5 years of relevant transportation inspection experience in bridge and/or roadway construction with all accompanying certifications. TET V - Project Manager with 8 years of relevant transportation inspection experience in heavy highway, bridge and roadway construction with all accompanying certifications.

Benefits

The expected hourly compensation range for this position is $20.00 - $70.00, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
