System engineer for high‑power EV charger and home energy management integration.
In this role, you will collaborate with Hardware, Test, Cloud, and Firmware teams—as well as directly interface with OEM customers—to ensure system-level performance, reliability, and compliance with industry standards. You will be responsible for defining, testing, and tracking the overall system design validation, product requirements, conducting bench testing for performance verification, and supporting customers’ needs to deliver robust, high-quality solutions. -Define and document system requirements for high-power, safety-critical applications. -Develop Integration & system validation tests for newly built prototypes -Develop and refine system-level architecture and integration for high-power EV charger and whole-home energy management solutions. -Conduct hands-on bench testing of system-level performance using oscilloscopes, multimeters, digital logic probes, power supplies, and other lab equipment. -Troubleshoot system issues on prototype units and act as the system expert. Root cause system issues quickly and identify hardware or firmware issues. -Collaborate closely with multiple teams (Hardware, Test, Firmware, Cloud and App) to ensure system requirements are understood. This includes participating in hardware design and firmware code reviews to ensure requirements are implemented as written. -Report out on requirements implementation and validation status for all hardware and firmware requirements -Interface with customers and external partners to gather requirements and ensure alignment on specifications. -Derive subsystem level requirements from system requirements and cascade to the appropriate team. -Employ scripting tools (e.g. Python) as needed to automate testing and enhance system verification processes. -Utilize version control and continuous integration tools (e.g., Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins) to track system-level changes and maintain organized documentation.
A cover letter and resume are required to be considered for this position. New employees will be required to successfully complete a background check. -Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across internal teams, external partners, and directly with customers. -Experience scripting in Python (or similar) to facilitate testing and automate processes. -10+ years of experience in systems engineering. The ideal candidate will have system design experience involving high-power and safety-critical applications. -Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field. -Knowledge of embedded systems OS/RTOS (FreeRTOS, Quantum Leap QM) and common microcontrollers (ESP32, STM32, MSP430) is a plus (though direct firmware development is not required). -Strong understanding of high-power electronics and the ability to interpret schematics for system-level design. -Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, Bitbucket) and continuous integration (Jenkins). -Demonstrated ability to work with UL 1998 or similar certifications for safety-critical products. -Hands-on experience with lab equipment for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and validating system performance on the bench.
