Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview

Design, manage, and commission mechanical/structural systems for capital projects

Key Responsibilities

Tasks

-Supervise onsite contractors and support commissioning activities -Design and review mechanical and structural components, including piping (hydraulics, compressed air, water), lifting equipment, and basic platforms/supports -Control project budgets and schedules -Work alongside highly experienced senior engineers and industry experts who actively support knowledge sharing and mentoring -Prepare work scopes, tender documents, and manage procurement and contracts -Participate in hazard and risk analysis, and design and constructability reviews -Develop and manage safety systems and controls through design, installation, and commissioning

What You Bring

-Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and manage multiple projects -Knowledge of lifting equipment/crane standards (AS4991, AS/NZS 1418), access/walkways (AS1657), and pressure piping (AS4041) is a plus -Eligible or registered to provide professional engineering services in Victoria under the Professional Engineers Registration Act 2019 -Mechanical engineering degree with strong design and project management skills -Experience with heavy equipment lifting (design or execution) is desirable -Experience in mechanical and structural design, preferably in manufacturing or similar environments
