Tasks

In this role, you will manage SPEN’s Open Data Portal, oversee the full lifecycle of data requests and play a key role in dataset development and governance. You will be responsible for triaging incoming data enquiries, working with internal teams to assess and prepare datasets for publication and ensuring our open data offerings meet regulatory standards and stakeholder expectations - supporting our commitment to openness, collaboration and digital transformation. You will also produce regular reports and insights for senior managers, helping shape SPEN’s data and digitalisation strategy. Leading our risk assessment process, ensuring that the principles of Data Security and Cyber Security are fully considered for each dataset we produce, you will assist with development and maintenance of our Open Data Portal, working closely with our programme of development across our Open Data portal to identify and feed in requirements, improving offerings which align with the needs of the datasets, ensuring we are delivering in line with Data Best Practice. Engaging with our stakeholders across the industry through attendance at industry events, you will seek opportunities to deliver best in class data offerings, prepare executive materials and industry submissions to ensure work being completed by SPEN is fully reflected and recognised, cultivating relationships with key stakeholders, establishing effective working relationships with SPEN staff and management teams across the business, whilst being involved with the development of datasets for publication on the Open Data Portal. Developing a detailed understanding of SPEN open data so that you can support our customers and stakeholders with identifying and compiling data that meets their request, you will lead the Open Data Request process within SPEN, collaborating with various parties across the organisation, including Data Owners, Data Transformation team, Business Transformation team and IT to provide data that meets our stakeholders needs.

What You Bring

With excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, you will display your proven experience in data and statistical analysis, managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Utilising your excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills, you will possess experience in analysis preparation, reporting and presentations for senior management. You will also be numerically articulate with a strong attention to detail You will be proactive, adaptable and passionate about delivering high-quality, actionable data. With an ability to quickly understand a range of complex data and the issues it may present, you will possess strong communication skills to articulate objectives and deliver projects with multiple milestones. Degree qualified in Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, Data Science or similar, experience within the UK electricity network industry is preferred although not essential.
