Deputy Team Leader

Tasks

-Cover for the Team Leader when needed, including key-holder responsibilities and point of escalation for operational issues -Act as a hands-on team member, performing any warehouse functions as required -Help induct, train, and support warehouse operatives, ensuring processes are followed correctly and staff well-being is prioritised -Assist with unloading vehicles, goods checks, and processing returns accurately -Conduct return-to-work interviews and address attendance concerns with the Team Leader's guidance -Maintain high standards for customer order fulfilment by ensuring accurate picking, packing, and product quality -Liaise with the Team Leader and Warehouse Manager to ensure seamless operations -Collaborate with other departments, including logistics and customer service, to maintain operational efficiency -Champion health and safety, ensuring all staff adhere to safety protocols and procedures -Help monitor and achieve team and business key performance indicators (KPIs) using whiteboards, shared sheets, and WMS systems -Monitor stock and packaging materials and escalate stock issues to the Team Leader -Complete detailed and accurate shift handovers to maintain continuity -Handle administrative tasks such as planning and booking deliveries and ensuring documentation is complete -Maintain high standards in safety, accuracy, attendance, and productivity -Ensure site operations adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintain safety standards -Supervise and coordinate daily activities, assigning tasks and monitoring performance -Act as a first aider and fire marshal, supporting site compliance -Support initiatives for process improvement and cost reduction to maximise customer service levels -Monitor the quality of incoming and outgoing goods -Assist in driving compliance, morale, discipline, and performance at both individual and team levels -Ensure all staff handle stock and equipment with care, minimising damage risks -Ensure proper use and maintenance of all equipment, including MHE and site facilities -Provide guidance during tasks such as loading, unloading, and order processing to ensure timely and accurate vehicle departures -Report and document safety incidents and hazards promptly -Support the Team Leader in managing staff to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and productivity across all warehouse activities, including shift timings, breaks, and overall accountability for time on site
