Overview

Manage sourcing, negotiations and supplier relations for freight and MRO categories.

Tasks

-Conduct spend analysis for freight and MRO categories to identify trends, cost drivers, and opportunities for consolidation. -Prepare and evaluate RFQs and RFPs for freight services and MRO goods/services. -Support day-to-day procurement activities, including spot freight quotes, MRO requisitions, and supplier communications. -Linking business needs to leverage scale -Maintain supplier and carrier records, driving continuous improvement in cost, quality, and service performance. -Research freight markets (LTL, FTL, parcel, etc.) and MRO suppliers (parts, consumables, services) to benchmark costs and support sourcing decisions. -Identify process improvement opportunities such as freight consolidation, mode shifting, supplier consolidation, and inventory optimization. -Contribute to initiatives that deliver cost savings, improve service, and reduce supply chain risk. -Track and manage contracts, renewals, and compliance with company policies for both categories. -Work with internal teams to forecast freight volumes and MRO demand, ensuring availability and budget alignment. -Support the development and execution of sourcing strategies for both freight and MRO. -Participate in supplier selection, onboarding, and performance evaluations. -Negotiate pricing, terms, and service agreements with carriers, 3PLs, and MRO suppliers. -Use data insights to recommend improvements in routing, lane mix, supplier utilization, and sourcing strategies. -Collaborate with plants, operations, and procurement teams to capture category requirements. -Assist in preparing dashboards and reports for management review across freight and MRO. -Track supplier and carrier performance metrics (cost, quality, delivery, on-time performance, claims).

What You Bring

-Experience in manufacturing, construction, or heavy industry is advantageous but not essential -Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in Excel and procurement/ERP. Experience with TMS (Transportation Management System) tools a plus -Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or other related field; professional procurement certifications (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) are advantageous -Knowledge of sourcing processes (RFx, carrier selection, contract management). -Strategic thinking & commercial acumen -Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment -Change management and process improvement mindset -Ability to manage multiple categories, projects, and stakeholders -Attention to detail and data analysis -Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. -Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams -Strong negotiation and influencing skills -Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build supplier and stakeholder relationships -3+ years of procurement, sourcing, or supply chain experience, ideally in freight and/or MRO categories.

For this position, the expected salary range is $70,000 – $85,000 annually, based on factors such as experience, skill set, and geographic location. This range reflects our commitment to fair and competitive compensation, informed by market benchmarks and internal equity.
