Tasks

-Promote design excellence, ensuring that healthcare projects at AECOM move beyond functional efficiency to create humane, healing environments. -Mentor and support junior and mid-level planners, building capacity and promoting best practice within the team. -Engage with stakeholders – leading workshops, design reviews, and client presentations to ensure clinical and operational requirements are embedded into design solutions. -Collaborate across disciplines to deliver integrated solutions that align medical planning with architectural design quality, sustainability, and operational performance. -Lead medical planning across all project stages, including master planning, blocking and stacking, departmental layouts, and detailed 1:50 room loadings. -Champion thought leadership in healthcare design, contributing to research, publications, and innovation across the practice.

What You Bring

-Familiarity with global healthcare standards and ability to adapt UK best practice to international contexts. -Strategic thinker with the ability to influence at project, client, and industry levels. -RIBA Chartered Architect (or equivalent professional registration). -Evidence of thought leadership through publications, presentations, or active research. -Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills. -Strong design sensibility with a commitment to delivering healthcare environments that improve human experience. -Extensive experience in healthcare design, with at least 5 years in a senior medical planning role. -Postgraduate degree or specialisation in medical planning (or equivalent demonstrable expertise). -Experience of international healthcare projects and delivery of large-scale hospital developments. -Demonstrable leadership in planning hospitals and complex healthcare facilities within the UK and Ireland. -Strong portfolio demonstrating integration of functional planning and architectural design.
