Distribution Project Engineer

Overview

Design and support medium voltage power distribution systems for projects.

Tasks

-Work with Designers and CAD Technicians to develop construction drawings in accordance with national design standards, safety codes and project specifications and requirements. -Participate in field reviews or construction observation -Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Distribution Project Engineers or Distribution Coordinators. -Typical designs include electrical layout design, cable heating calculations, fuse coordination, overhead and underground design, and development of bill of materials. Designs must also consider construction requirements. -Assist with preparing cost estimates or specifications -Conduct analyses to develop design options, perform modeling and/or calculations, and prepare design sketches and concept drawings for medium voltage overhead and underground power systems.

What You Bring

-Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. -Occasional shortterm travel (typically 15 days) may be necessary. Longer term (several weeks) assignments may be required infrequently on project assignments. -Minimum of four years experience related to mediumvoltage or distributionlevel design. -Graduate Degree or Certificate in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems. -Strong written and verbal communication skills. -Experience using engineering software for medium voltage design or analysis such as CYMCAP, CYMEDIST, Milsoft Windmil, PLSPole, SKM, and/or other related tools -Experience in the medium voltage design of large industrial facilities.
