The Role

Overview

Design electrical plans (lighting, power, fire alarm, telecom) using AutoCAD/Revit.

Tasks

-Participates in technical and professional societies. -Take conceptual rough plan mark-ups and create final design documents, under the supervision of a senior designer or engineer. -Assist in the preparation of studies, performing field surveys, documenting existing conditions, and/or recommending various design solutions. -Performs equipment takeoffs for calculation and cost estimating purposes. -May obtain field data by conducting field visits to project sites both in state and out of state. Documents existing conditions. May require overnight travel. -Attends in-house seminars and pursues educational opportunities both in and outside of the office. -Perform calculations and utilize various Microsoft and Third-Party software packages related to various portions of the design package as directed by more senior staff members.

What You Bring

-Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. -EIT Preferred. -Possess a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. -Must be able to travel to job sites as needed or required. -0-5 years of demonstrated electrical design experience. -Must have a thorough understanding of the principles of electrical design. -Under the supervision of a senior designer or engineer, is able to design and layout routine electrical lighting, power, fire alarm, and telecommunications portions of a project using AutoCAD MEP, Revit, or other means. -Proficiency with use of design software common in our industry is highly valued. -Must be proficient in the operation of a computer and with the use of Microsoft Office Suite software. -Must be able to commit to a hybrid work schedule with at least 3 days in the Andover, MA office. -Perform BIM/CAD functions proficiently in the electrical discipline and will use Revit and/or AutoCAD MEP software to transfer design concepts to a format acceptable to the client, architect and/or construction company in accordance with NV5 standards. -Must be proficient with AutoCAD MEP and Revit software.
