Tasks
We’re seeking a strategic leader to oversee the planning and execution of all Transmission projects within Electricity Services, including AESO direct assign work. This role leads a team of project management professionals responsible for estimating, scheduling, cost control, and portfolio management. Key responsibilities include ensuring effective governance, tools, and processes are in place, developing internal and contractor strategies to meet future workload demands, and managing consultant/contractor prequalification.What you’d be responsible for -Stay current on industry trends, including equipment costs and lead times, to set realistic project expectations and effectively plan transmission programs -Design and align team structure to support short-term plans, ensuring clear roles, efficient staffing, and functional accountability. Plan and secure budget, hiring, and development needs to meet evolving business demands. -Liaise with other utilities and market providers to share best practices in outsourcing, project management, and project controls. Build strategic partnerships with key consultants and contractors to expand capacity for design-build services, including engineering, construction, and trades. -Providing information and expertise to support Alberta Utility Commission (AUC) regulatory filings -Maintain up to date knowledge on internal and external governance requirements, and develop policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance -Coach, mentor and support a strong team of professionals and managers while enabling them to meet deliverables, performance expectations and deliverable metrics -Set and track rigorous performance metrics, service level agreements and expectations for all consultant services -Foster a strong safety culture within the TPM team by implementing robust processes for employee and contractor safety. Ensure the team is equipped to conduct safety evaluations, onboarding, monitoring, incident response, and post-completion feedback. Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement in safety. -Manage consultant and contractor resources to ensure optimal mix of internal and external support while maintaining market awareness and controlling staffing costs

What You Bring
We are hiring a full-time, permanent Sr Manager, Transmission Program Management (TPM) position working out of Edmonton, AB. -To meet the physical demands required of some positions, candidates must be in good physical condition and willing to work in all weather conditions. Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing may be required. -If you are considered for the position, clearance on all applicable background checks (which may include criminal, identity, educational, and/or credit) and professional reference checks is required. Some EPCOR positions require an enhanced level of background assessment, which is dictated by law. These positions require advanced criminal record checks that must also be conducted from time to time after commencement of employment. -Strong understanding of contract law, Alberta Lien Act, Alberta Occupational Health and Safety regulations, Worker’s Compensation Board requirements, Alberta Electrical Utility Code, and Alberta Safety Codes Act Ability -Experience in designing and constructing high voltage and medium voltage electrical utility infrastructure -Professional Engineer or Professional Licensee EngineerRegistration as a P. Eng. and P.L. Eng. with APEGA and eligibility to practice in Alberta is a requirement -Demonstrated experience with AUC regulation, AESO connection and system projects and General Tariff Application (GTA) -Ability to design cross-functional processes and manage change -Proven ability to lead teams, develop talent, and drive strategic outcomes -Understanding of procurement, including competitive bidding, reviewing proposals, negotiating service terms, the development of performance standards, multi-party contracts and measurable service level agreements -Knowledge of project scheduling software is an asset -Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset -Registration as a P. Eng. and P.L. Eng. with APEGA and eligibility to practice in Alberta is a requirement -Experience in overseeing complex multi-party construction projects, managing engineering and field operations and ensuring on-time, on budget delivery -A requirement of working for EPCOR is that you are at least 18 years of age, successfully attained a high school diploma (GED, or equivalent level of secondary education) and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.) -Advanced interpersonal skills to interface with all levels in the organization -15+ years of experience in project and construction management, including contractor oversight, scheduling, scope, and cost control
