The Role

Overview

Design and support combustion/steam turbine auxiliaries, do calculations, PFD/P&ID, and startup.

Tasks

-Support control valve specification and selection -Participate in HAZOP, SIL reviews, punch-out, and project startup activities -Adhere to company policies, business practices, and safety procedures -Develop piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) -Travel to customer offices and construction sites as required -Report unsafe activities to management and/or HR -Create process data sheets for instrumentation and equipment -Perform and review hydraulic calculations -Participate in departmental and company goals -Attend or lead meetings across time zones, including during Japanese business hours a few times per month -Prepare heat and material balances and process flow diagrams (PFDs) -Maintain knowledge of Mitsubishi Power products and technologies -Provide startup and commissioning support for combustion and steam turbines -Conduct heat exchanger thermal calculations and pump sizing

What You Bring

-Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university -Travel up to 10% -Communicate effectively with all levels of employees -Advanced MS Excel skills; VBA programming knowledge is beneficial -Strong analytical skills and understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics -Multilingual skills (Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese) beneficial but not required -Work effectively in a multicultural environment -Familiarity with Smart Plant P&ID preferred -Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds -May be exposed to construction environments and must follow safety protocols, including use of PPE -Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak to groups -Must be able to stand, walk, bend, talk, and hear regularly -Experience with combustion or steam turbine auxiliaries system design -5–7 years’ experience with an EPC firm or combustion/steam turbine OEM -Experience with P&ID management, hydraulic calculations, and heat/material balances
