The Role

Overview

Assist cook with meal prep, cooking, supervision of trainees, and maintain safety.

Tasks

-Prepare vegetables by washing, peeling, coring, grinding, shredding, or chopping, for use in entrees. -Completing all mandated training requirements per government and management directives. -Keep food service area, tables, floors, and equipment clean and sanitary. -Prepare meats for cooking by washing, trimming, boning, cutting, cubing, or forming into patties or loaves. -Dealing with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations. -Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices and OSHA standards. -Prepare desserts as needed. -Timely completion and accuracy of all departmental work. -Help cook and serve meals, ensuring that prepared foods are held and served at proper temperatures, and all left over foods are properly chilled and stored. -Assist with the appropriate storage of dry goods and freezer items. -Cultivate and maintain a climate on Center, which is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn. -Promote student attainment of career success standards through modeling appropriate skills, mentoring students, monitoring skills acquisition and intervening when inappropriate behavior is observed. -Cook or bake items, which require minimum preparation.

What You Bring

-Timely and cost-effective performance of duties. -Communicating effectively verbally and in writing with all levels of Center staff and students. -Must be able to obtain a Food Handler’s certificate within 30 days of employment. -Previous experience in a commercial or institutional kitchen. -Ability to develop rapport and positive working relationships with all departments -High school diploma or equivalent. -Successfully pass any background check and/drug test required on the contract. -Adherence to established company safety policies and ability to work in a safe manner, using any required personal protective equipment (PPE) as may be required. -Training in food preparation and one (1) year of experience. -Compliance with company standard operating procedures and personnel policies and procedures. -Ability to obtain & maintain valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record.
