The Role
Overview
Weld, fabricate, read blueprints, and maintain equipment in a heavy‑manufacturing setting.

Tasks
-Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications -Processing jobs according to defined company policies and protocols -Receive instructions from Welding Supervisor for each job -Follow detailed instructions on the order and ask for clarification prior to starting the job -Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment -Fabrication and Welding tasks -Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears and other metal straightening and bending machines -Provide details necessary to administration office for job number assignment -Conduct repairs, modifications, and retrofits -Adhere and comply with company policies and Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations -Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux- cored arc welding (FCAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) -Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports -Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance, and repair techniques -Report requirements for repairs to supervisor -Review, understand, and complete work order -Discover pathways for advancement within Northern Strands Group of Companies -Ensure all parts and components used in the recertification process are recorded to the job number -Maintain safe work practices -Maintain and clean all machines and tools -Travel to jobsite to perform onsite welding and field fits, as required

What You Bring
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test will be required as a condition of employment. -Manual dexterity required to use power and hand tools -Accurate and detailed tracking of time spent on jobs -Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent -Valid CWB welding certification, GMAW and SMAW, certified in all positions -Strong time-management skills; ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines -Possess a positive and professional attitude, set a high standard, and convey professionalism at all times -Ability to use judgment and apply discretion when making decisions -Possess welding and fabrication skills and knowledge -Minimum of one (1) year experience welding in a heavy manufacturing environment preferred but not required -Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events -Experience with routine maintenance operations
