Tasks

-Participate in various company teams and industry-level organizations to enhance Electric Transmission’s system protection performance. -Collaborate with the Engineering Standards to discuss issues and suggest standard revisions. -Work with field system protection technicians to develop the as-built drawing package that will be returned to the Substation Engineering team. -Coordinate with and provide technical assistance to various engineering and field teams to support the development and review of the protection and control design package. -Participate in industry engagement and benchmarking activities. -Review relay settings for accuracy in substation protective relay schemes. Collaborate with the System Protection Engineering team to resolve issues. -Provide technical support for project management, conceptual engineering teams throughout the course of capital projects. -Observe field and substation operations to gain insight into the challenges faced by field teams. -Review proposed project scopes to identify opportunities for improvement.

What You Bring

-Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license. -Basic understanding of transmission and/or distribution relay protection principles a plus. -Maritime physical (via Concentra). -Helicopter (HUET) -Due to weight limits on equipment, individuals in this role have a weight restriction of 265 pounds. -4-year degree in Physics, Math, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Engineering or other technical related discipline; or -Drafting skills in MicroStation or AutoCAD software are a plus -4-year non-technical degree and post-graduate degree in Engineering Technology or Engineering (not ABET-accredited); or -Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or -Understanding of transmission and/or distribution relay protection principles preferred. -Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience accepted in lieu of preferred degree -METS (metabolic equivalent of task) -Height’s training -Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country’s own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country’s accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or -Strong oral and written communication skills, including technical writing -4-year Engineering Technology degree or 4-year degree in Engineering (not ABET-accredited); or -Understanding of AC/DC fundamentals, including three-phase power systems. -First Aid -Minimum 0 years of experience. Will consider candidates with a graduation date no later than Spring 2026. -Comprehensive understanding of AC/DC fundamentals, including three-phase power systems. -Thorough understanding of transmission and distribution relay protection principles preferred. -Effective work independently or in a team environment -Basic understanding of AC/DC fundamentals, including three-phase power systems. -Minimum 2 years of relevant experience. -Possess a 4-year engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or -Minimum 5 years of relevant experience. -Knowledge power system modeling software (ASPEN, CAPE, PSS/E, or MATLAB) is a plus -Strong time management skills with the ability to independently plan and organize work assignments -Possess a 4-year degree in Physics, Chemistry or Math and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or -Due to weight limits on equipment, individuals in this role have a weight restriction of 265 pounds -Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices -Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems -Knowledge of system protection testing and commissioning is a plus
