The Role
Overview
Perform testing, inspection, repair, and installation of fire alarm systems per NFPA standards.

Tasks
-Determine materials needed for repairs and order them. -Be on rotation to respond to after-hours service calls as scheduled by supervisor. -Perform under supervision PITCO activities. -Functionally-test Initiating Devices, Notification Appliances, and all other peripherals and system components. -Develop and maintain relationships with building owners, building managers, and other customer representatives. -Relocates a 12-foot stepladder without assistance. -Perform under supervision of the installation of low voltage systems. -Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events). -Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. -Respond to service requests, diagnose system malfunctions of fire alarms and adjust, repair or replace equipment as needed to bring into compliance. -Read blueprints and drawings. -May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools. -Perform all duties required to successfully complete projects within estimate and according to specifications. -Communicate system performance and deficiencies to customers and to account managers for accurate and efficient quoting of recommended repairs. -Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders. -Maintain truck inventory. -Perform under supervision mid-size FA system upgrades and installation based on provided drawings and submittals. -Pursue and maintain industry certifications, as well as grow technical and customer service skills with active support from M.C. Dean. -Prepare accurate and timely inspection and service reports. -Perform under supervision pre-testing and final inspections for assigned projects. -Perform testing and inspection of fire alarm systems per NFPA and local code standards, noting existing and potential deficiencies.

-Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis. -Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. -Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English. -Ability to function in a controlled, effective manner under stress. -Above average level of attention to detail and professional work ethic. -8+ years of relevant experience or 2-year technology degree with 6+ years of relevant experience -Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information; Ability to obtain an HSPD-12 & Secret clearance. -NICET Level II certified or must pass NICET II exam withing 90 days of employment -Strong leadership skills. -Above average communication skills with customers, other field personnel, office staff and sub-contractors. -Excellent decision-making skills. -High School Diploma or GED required -The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to [50 pounds] on a regular basis. Candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks, including but not limited to, loading, and unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of various materials. Proper lifting techniques and safety protocols must be followed to ensure personal and team safety.
