Tasks
As an Engineering Lead, you’ll focus on Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Retro-Commissioning (RCx) and energy management within Demand Side Management (DSM) programs. You’ll help customers identify, quantify, and implement cost-effective energy efficiency solutions, driving measurable sustainability outcomes. -Summarize project outcomes, including savings, cost-effectiveness, and lessons learned, for utility clients and program administrators. -Develop and maintain program resources such as calculation tools, guidebooks, and technical references. -Review QSP submissions—reports, savings calculations, and documentation—for accuracy and alignment with program requirements; provide clear technical feedback to stakeholders. -Mentor and train junior engineers in RCx methodologies, HVAC systems, and program processes; ensure quality and timely project reviews. -Identify and address barriers to project implementation, proposing innovative solutions to enhance program success of program materials such as calculation tools, guidebooks, and technical reference resources. -Lead and support RCx and energy management projects for commercial and industrial facilities, including feasibility assessments and site visits.

What You Bring
We’re hiring an Engineering Lead to support a Massachusetts-based energy efficiency program. This role is remote, but candidates must reside in the New England area to meet program needs. You will be required to commute to Massachusetts at times. Employment with Resource Innovations is contingent upon the successful completion of a comprehensive background check and reference check. If applicable to the position, a pre-employment drug screen may also be required. -Hands-on knowledge of commissioning and retro-commissioning procedures, system schematics, and functional performance testing. -Demonstrated experience reviewing technical reports, calculations, and performing QA/QC of engineering deliverables. -Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize competing deadlines, and lead/mentor junior engineering staff. -Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and related analysis tools. -Professional Engineer (P.E.) license and/or Certified Energy Manager (CEM) credential. -Minimum 5 years of experience in energy efficiency, retro-commissioning (RCx), or building systems engineering. -Prior success managing multiple projects or programs, including budgets, deliverables, and client relationships. -Proficiency with building energy modeling and simulation tools (e.g., DOE-2, eQUEST, EnergyPlus, TRACE, ECAM). -Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, refrigeration, thermal/fluid systems, and other commercial/industrial building systems. -Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical findings into clear and actionable guidance for contractors, utility clients, and end customers. -Comfortable working in dynamic environments with variable levels of ambiguity. -Familiarity with energy savings opportunities across building systems, including HVAC, lighting, compressed air, refrigeration, and process heating/cooling. -Master’s degree in Mechanical, Energy, or a related engineering field. -Experience designing and specifying HVAC, electrical, and building automation/control systems. -Willingness to travel locally up to 25% of the time. -Strong writing, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills; able to distill complex ideas into concise reports, conversations, and emails. -Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related field.
