Overview

Manage permits, licenses, and approvals for construction projects

Tasks

-Take an active role in the education of the project team. -Participating in the construction application approval process, including issuance of permits, planning of submittals and processing, and fee assessment and payment processing. -Ensure that external stakeholders, the municipality, and environmental authorities are engaged when appropriate to obtain feedback. -Help in managing relationships with stakeholders, including government authorities. -Ensure timely processing of plans, permits, licenses, agreements, and applications. -Provide recommendations and updates to change the budget as the project is progressing (assessment). -Assist in the coordination of internal and external regulatory approval processes. -Participate in the coordination and scheduling of meetings with stakeholders, as needed. -Research, co-ordinate, and apply for construction permits as per established processes to ensure timely issuance of permits and meeting strict construction start deadlines. -Help to maintain and update the project’s permits matrix and maintain accountability to this master document. -Coordinate the routing and tracking of plans to various departments and outside agencies for required reviews and clearances. -Ensure that permits, licenses, approvals, and agreements are in place to perform the scope of work assigned. -Provide the necessary documentation to enable on-schedule construction.

What You Bring

-Demonstrated interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills, and ability to deal with complex issues involving third party agencies, governments, and other stakeholders. -Registered Professional Planner (RPP) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Province of Ontario or other related professional qualifications are assets but are not required. -Knowledge and experience related to roads, bridges, utility, rail, or other infrastructure projects is an asset. -A minimum of 4 to 5 years of relevant experience, including experience in each of the following: coordinating third party engagement; obtaining permits, licenses, approvals and agreements, including experience with a broad range of municipal, utility, and other permits, licenses, and approvals relevant to the project; and development reviews. -Proficiency using MS Office Suite. -Solid presentation skills and verbal / written communication skills. -University degree or completion of a diploma training program at a college or technical school
