Tasks

-Report violations and maintain files/records -Perform field inspections during various stages of construction -Review plans and specifications for commercial, industrial, and residential projects to ensure compliance with city, state, and federal laws and regulations -Perform Rental Housing inspections in accordance with municipal ordinances and regulations

What You Bring

-Ability to work on several tasks simultaneously. -Good time management, organization, and attention to detail skills -Experience in municipal code inspections preferred -Skill in prioritizing and executing assignments with limited supervision. Skill in using independent judgment and discretion. -Additional state certifications are a plus -High school diploma or equivalent -Excellent verbal and written communication skills -Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and a considerable amount of independent judgment -Michigan Electrical Inspector certification required -Valid driver's license with a good driving record -Extensive knowledge of local electrical building codes and current construction procedures and technology. -Must possess the ability to positively interact with the other staff members, the general public, contractors, governmental entities, and other clientele -Interpretation of codes in the field and ability to provide code compliant solutions
