The Role

Overview

Assist with design, analysis, inspection, and compliance of dam projects as a geotech intern.

Tasks

-Working with multi-disciplinary teams on various projects related to dams and other hydraulic structures. -Providing support for projects including design, analysis, inspection, construction observation, and regulatory compliance activities associated with a variety of dams. -Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.

What You Bring

-A GPA of 3.0 or higher. -Familiarity/capability in relevant Geotechnical Engineering software programs such as Geostudio and gINT. -Knowledge of MS Office Programs. Capable of functioning with spreadsheets, word processing, and standard office software. -Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required. -Travel is required for this position. -Knowledge of dam engineering concepts through coursework or work experience. -Flexibility and willingness to travel for project work part time as needed. -Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis/interest in Geotechnical Engineering and must have completed at least three years of study. Candidates who have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship. -Experience in AutoCAD. -Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review. -Effective written and oral communication skills. -This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in office work in Germantown, MD or Conshohocken, PA. The selected candidate must be available to work in Germantown, MD or Conshohocken, PA on a scheduled basis. -Ability to travel for project work part-time as needed.
