Tasks

- Provide on-call support as part of a rotation for critical issues outside business hours. - Perform daily monitoring of backup jobs, promptly investigating and resolving any failures or issues. - Recommend and implement optimizations to improve efficiency, performance, and cost-effectiveness. Develop and automate routine tasks through scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash). - Administer cloud-based backup solutions and ensure efficient replication to disaster recovery sites. - Perform data deduplication, compression, and tiering strategies to optimize storage utilization. - Conduct regular, scheduled recovery tests of files, applications, databases, and full systems to validate data integrity and meet Recovery Time (RTO) and Recovery Point (RPO) objectives - Collaborate with system administrators, network engineers, and application teams to deliver integrated solutions. Maintain and test data retention policies to comply with legal, regulatory, and organizational requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOX). Participate in the IT change management process. Manage access controls and permissions for storage resources. - Create and allocate LUNs, volumes, and file shares based on application and user requirements. - Serve as the final point of escalation for troubleshooting complex backup and storage-related issues. - Proactively monitor storage and backup infrastructure performance and capacity. Generate and analyze reports to forecast future needs. Ensure all backup and storage systems are hardened and configured according to security best practices. - Provision, configure, and maintain enterprise storage arrays Create and maintain detailed, accurate documentation for system configurations, architectures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and recovery runbooks. - Implement and manage storage replication technologies (synchronous/asynchronous) for disaster recovery.
