Tasks

-Produce accurate cost plans from material take-offs, drawings, and specifications. -Coordinate tender launch, review, and adjudication meetings. -Benchmark estimates against historical data and established KPIs. -You’ll be instrumental in developing competitive bids using your knowledge of market rates, technical insight, and cost analysis skills—helping the business stay ahead of the competition and win new work across a diverse project portfolio. -Prepare detailed project cost estimates, considering scope, objectives, and profitability. -Oversee handover to project teams, providing detailed cost plans for successful bids. -Manage the collation of tender documentation to meet submission deadlines. -Review subcontractor pricing to ensure accuracy and compliance with scope. -Support senior management with bid analysis, tender reviews, and contract negotiations. -Identify project risks and determine suitable contingency allowances. -Source and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations for specialist packages.

What You Bring

-Experience in commercial or retail fit-out projects is advantageous. -Strong communication and negotiation skills. -Ability to prioritise, manage deadlines, and work under pressure. -Proven ability to interpret technical documents including BoQs, drawings, and specifications. -Team-oriented with a proactive, problem-solving approach. -You’ll be a proactive, detail-driven Estimator with a strong background in M&E or building services. You’ll have the technical knowledge to produce robust estimates and the commercial awareness to ensure competitiveness and profitability. -Sound commercial judgement and awareness of current market rates. -Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar Estimating role within the construction or M&E industry. -Excellent numerical and IT skills, particularly Excel and Word. -BTEC, HNC/HND, or degree in Construction, Building Services, or a related discipline preferred. -GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English. -You’ll also be comfortable liaising with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders, ensuring all tenders are fully compliant and well-prepared. -Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, materials, and specifications. -Ability to identify project risks and propose mitigations. -Are you an experienced Mechanical Estimator looking to join a well-established contractor with a strong reputation across the commercial and retail fit-out sector?
