Advise on sustainability integration for the Quebec‑Toronto high‑speed rail project

Tasks

-Significantly increase the availability of accessible and affordable services; -Collaborate with various departments at Alto and Cadence to integrate sustainability into all aspects of the project; -Develop sustainability dashboards and indicators that reflect the importance of material issues for Alto; -Ensure compliance with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) regulations, as well as relevant certifications or standards (e.g., LEED, Envision, ISO 14001, ISO 26000, GHG protocol, GRI); -Contribute to sustainability reports, audits, and external monitoring; -Communicate best practices in sustainability and raise awareness among project teams; -Contribute to defining and monitoring the sustainable development strategy (corporate and project); -Actively monitor industry trends and best practices in sustainability. -Ensure consistency with Canada's climate commitments and federal public policies related to sustainability (Federal Sustainable Development Act, Impact Assessment Act, Green Government Strategy, Canada's Carbon Neutrality Accountability Act); -Contribute to the Government of Canada's commitment to carbon neutrality;

What You Bring

-Master's degree or equivalent in environmental studies, sustainable civil engineering, sustainable development, engineering, or social sciences applied to infrastructure an asset; -Certification in sustainability an asset (e.g., ENV SP, LEED); -Practical knowledge of sustainability standards, frameworks, and regulations (e.g., LEED, Envision, ISO 14001, ISO 26000, TCFD, IFRS S1&S2, GHG protocol, GRI); -Good writing skills (reports, strategic recommendations). -Ability to consult and communicate with a variety of stakeholders; -Bilingualism (FR/EN) required. -Bachelor's degree in environmental studies, sustainable civil engineering, sustainable development, engineering, or social sciences applied to infrastructure required; -Analytical skills, autonomy, and diplomacy; -Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams, decision-makers, and various external stakeholders; -Proficiency in performance monitoring tools (ESG indicators, non-financial reporting, GRI, etc.); -3 to 5 years (or more) of experience in consulting, project management, or sustainable development, ideally in the transportation infrastructure sector; -Ability to analyze studies and interpret technical data;

About Alto

-Alto teams up with Cadence consortium—led by SNCF, Air Canada, Keolis, CDPQ Infra and others—to co-design, build and operate the corridor. -Typical projects include 300 km/h electrified track, modern accessible stations in seven cities, and integration with public and Indigenous consultations. -Construction expected post-Impact Assessment over multiple five-to-seven-year phases. -Decreases travel time by half: e.g., Toronto–Montreal reduced to ~3 hours and Toronto–Ottawa to ~2 hours. -Alto projects CA$38.4 billion in time savings, CA$7.2 billion in reduced emissions, and up to 51,000 construction jobs. -Delivered through a crown corporation combining public oversight with a private consortium.
