The Role
Overview
Design civil/structural components for high‑voltage substations and transmission projects.

Tasks
-Perform engineering and design functions as necessary to meet project schedules. -Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work. -Work with project team to create or modify all civil and structural design documents. -Ensure correct application of engineering standards including the NESC, ASCE, IBC, AISC and ACI -Use project specific standards and ensure that the design efforts are progressing in the most efficient manner possible. -Properly use the document management system -Develop steel and foundation detail drawings. -Communicate and coordinate project activities with customer representatives, project team, and management. -Communicating effectively with co-workers, vendors, clients, etc. -Apply engineering application software for the design of structural steel and foundations.

What You Bring
-Knowledge and understanding of steel and concrete design, structural analysis, as well as knowledge and understanding of substation and transmission line components and their functions. -Knowledge of common word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail software. -This position requires minimal physical effort. -Strong knowledge of common engineering application software; Experience with RISA 3D, PLS-Tower or STAAD Pro is preferred. -Extensive knowledge of civil and structural design documents and drawings necessary to complete a substation or transmission project. -Must be able to endure prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer for a minimum of 8 hours a day -May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds at a time. -The ideal candidate has experience with design of cantilevered utility structures, towers, and masonry single story buildings as well as foundations as may be found in electric substations or other similar type facilities. -Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments. -Must be able and willing to travel overnight for trainings and/or meetings as required (10%) -Extensive knowledge and understanding of engineering standards including NESC, ASCE, IBC, AISC and ACI.
