The Role

Overview

Entry-level civil/structural design support using AutoCAD, Revit, field data.

Tasks

-Interface with other departments/engineering disciplines as required in order to effectively and efficiently complete projects. -Authorize a background check including verification of past employment, criminal history, and their educational history. -Prepares design layouts in compliance with engineering design and applicable code requirements that consider constructability, completeness and presentation. -Maintain compliance with all Chemstress policies, procedures and standards.

What You Bring

Location: On-site at 39 S Main St. Akron, OH (potential for hybrid schedule once trained), some travel to client locations required Keywords: civil, structural, design, engineering technology, designer, drafter, drafting, Autodesk, AutoCAD, 3D design, Plant 3D, Navisworks, Revit, CADD, Civil 3D, technical -Possess a valid driver’s license. -Two (2) to five (5) years of experience in the drafting of civil/structural projects. -Strong communication and interpersonal skills. -A vocational or an associate’s degree in Computer Aided Drafting & Design (CADD), or the equivalent experience. -Be able to physically maneuver through a client facility that may include tight, but not confined, spaces. -Must have reliable, consistent, and punctual work-site attendance. -Have the willingness to learn how to use field equipment & their practices which include the utilization of GPS surveying & laser scanning equipment. -Must be located in the United States and be legally authorized to work in the country. -Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within civil/structural field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform daily functions. -Ability to obtain data from field observations or existing documents. -Be able to commute to the office location. -Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines. -Be able to submit to a drug test upon offer of position. -Ability to develop standard design layouts that consider and incorporate requirements from other engineering disciplines to create a coordinated, unified design. -Basic knowledge of the design and layout of structure foundations, steel framing, concrete/wood/light gage metal/masonry framed structures. -Optional experience: basic surveying for determination of project elevations and control points using level and/or total station equipment; familiarity with Autodesk Civil 3D or willingness to learn; developing site layouts, grading, underground utility layouts. -Understand modern computer software: MS Office, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks, etc. -Critical thinking skills with the ability to plan ahead and conceptualize; capable of recognizing discrepancies with strong attention to detail.

Benefits

For entry-level candidates, we are open to this starting off as either part-time or full-time, with the plan to increase to full-time, long-term employment. This is not an internship. Job type: Part or full-time, direct hire Pay: Open for negotiation; dependent upon experience (45K-75K)
