Structural Fitter

Overview

Assemble steel structures per blueprints, operate equipment, ensure quality.

Tasks

-Produce high-quality assemblies aligned with specifications. -Operate forklifts and overhead cranes. -Inspect finished work and make necessary adjustments. -All employees are accountable for safety and health and are empowered to stop work if an unsafe condition is present. Employees should immediately notify their supervisor so that the hazard may be corrected. -Contributes to continuous improvement and lean practices. -Perform layout and fit-up of metal components per drawings and cut lists. -Comply with all company policies and procedures. -Identify and resolve fitting issues during fabrication. -Collaborate with teammates to meet production goals. -Work outside, inside, and in dusty, noisy and hazardous areas. -Works under general supervision and uses independent judgment. -Works under direct supervision with structured responsibilities. -Follow all safety guidelines and shop rules.

What You Bring

-Ability to fit complex components such as curved rails, stairs, and canopies. -Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on routine tasks. -Minimum of 5 years of industry experience. -Awards: Whether in Construction, Manufacturing, Fabrication, or Service, RK Industries is highly recognized and accredited throughout the industry: Accreditations & Recognition -Ability to mentor and support Fitter 1s. -Ability to fully fit beams, columns, and miscellaneous metals. -Read and use a tape measure accurately. -Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use basic fixtures. -Climb, balance, squat, kneel and crouch. -Minimum of 7 years of industry experience. -1 year of industry experience. -Lift, move, and/or carry up to 50 lbs. -Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documents. -All Fitter 1 qualifications plus: -Intermediate math skills. -Ability to read and interpret advanced blueprints. -Pass welding tests: 3G/FCAW, 1G/GMAW-MC, and 3G/GMAW-SC. -Intermediate math including some geometry and trigonometry. -All Fitter 2 qualifications plus: -Work in high places, tight places, confined spaces and/or other adverse locations -Ability to conceptualize and design intermediate fixtures. -Advanced mechanical aptitude and math skills. -Ability to read process sheets, cut lists, tolerances, and basic prints. -Performs highly technical work with minimal supervision. -Supervisory experience overseeing up to 5 Fitters.
