Overview

Assist in construction, operation, maintenance of electric transmission lines as apprenticeship.

Tasks

-Consistently adhere to safety rules to work in proximity of high and low voltage electric equipment -Carry and work with bulky equipment and material -Safely handle heavy/bulky equipment and materials -Work outside in inclement weather conditions -Work outside in heat and cold, frequently in inclement weather condition -Regularly climb and work from power poles 50-225 feet or more, and other tall structures

What You Bring

-Valid driver's license with a good driving history -Must successfully complete SCE&G's 4-year apprenticeship training program -Ability to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL-Class A) within six (6) months of hire -Must live within a 20-mile radius (30 minute drive) of the position's service territory/work. -Successfully complete the four (4) year apprenticeship training program which includes both written and hands-on instruction -High School diploma or GED -Must be in excellent physical condition, strong mechanical skills, and ability to work long hours during emergencies and/or storm restoration -Be safety conscious and work in proximity of high and low voltage electrical equipment -Be available to respond to work after hours, scheduled overtime, callouts and urgent needs 24 hours/day, 7 days/week -Be available for to work after hours, scheduled overtime, and callout 24 hours/day, 7 days/week -Must be able to regularly climb and work from utility poles 40 feet or more
