Tasks

Reporting to the Manager, Settlement and Structured Transactions (S&STG), the Analyst is responsible for the settlement of energy market trades and long-term contracts. -Work on systems improvements and implementation projects and execute User Acceptance Testing -Ensure that daily and monthly settlement tasks are successfully completed -Understand the corporate structure to allocate revenue and charges to the right legal entity and business strategy -Conduct research and analysis to remain current with market rules that impact settlement -Collaborate with external counterparties to understand and resolve settlement disputes -Validate and prepare regulatory reports -Validate and understand the accounting entries for month end accruals and invoices, and ensure they respect the organization’s accounting standards -Analyze current settlement processes, procedures and reports to propose improvements -Support the Manager, S&STG and provide various updates on daily activities -Collaborate with various departments to ensure data accuracy in financial and regulatory reports

This position requires the employee to be on-site for a minimum of 4 days to perform most effectively. -Ability to self-motivate and work on a variety of tasks and projects simultaneously in an ever-changing environment -Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and quality of work -Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines -Ability to locate and collect data from appropriate sources and analyze it to prepare meaningful and concise reports -Minimum two (2) years of relevant work experience in a related field, preferably in the energy industry;· -Capable of solving problems and using sound judgment -Enthusiastic learner with demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment -Self-starter with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision and as part of a large team -Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or a related discipline -Excellent written and oral communications skills -Knowledge of Trade capture and Data Validation Systems, such as Open Access Technology International, Inc.(OATI) is an asset -Understand the energy markets’ settlement and charge code algorithms to develop shadow calculations and improve validation processes -Advanced Excel skills (i.e. Macros, Pivot Tables, Visual Basic, Power Query) -Knowledge of Industrial and Financial Systems (IFS) is an asset
