HBS Engineering - VHT Consultant II

Overview

Design and assess elevator/escalator systems, provide client consulting and field work.

Tasks

-Serve as primary point of contact for clients on assigned projects. -Produce accurate VHT-specific construction drawings. -Mark up / comment on contractor submittals, drawings, and data for compliance and functionality -Write and refine reports, narratives, and proposals. -Develop new elevator design solutions, coordinate with architects/MEP engineers, and integrate requirements into project documentation -Cultivate new opportunities through professional networks. -Review work less experienced consultants and contribute to quality control. -Conduct traffic analyses using Elevate or equivalent software, interpret results and prepare recommendations -Develop maintenance and modernization specifications tailored to client needs. -Prepares basic specification and design documentation -Independently conduct field assessments, audits and surveys. -Participate in QA/QC reviews and contribute to project coordination meetings -Actively participate in design reviews and internal sessions. -Deliver solutions-focused communication and tailored technical recommendations. -Contribute to RFP responses and participate in client pitches. -Analyze and interpret submittals, shop drawings and performance data. -Coordinate effectively with design disciplines to ensure integration. -Assist with project scoping and resource planning at the discipline level. -Highlight and communicate new design capabilities in client pursuits -Review and refine new design deliverables to ensure alignment with codes and client requirements Maintain timely documentation using internal systems and tools (ClickUp, Bluebeam, Procore) -Lead client meetings independently.

What You Bring

-Regular travel to client sites and construction zones -Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management preferred -Strong working knowledge of ASME A17.1, A17.2, NFPA 70, and IBC -Ability to interpret technical drawings, specs, and construction documents -Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Bluebeam, and project platforms like ClickUp and Procore -Must demonstrate proficiency in all core competencies as described and characterized in this job description. -OSHA 10/30 or other site safety credentials -Excellent verbal and written communication skills -Experience writing or reviewing specifications -3 - 5 years of experience in the elevator/escalator industry (OEM, maintenance, modernization) with degree, or 7 or more years of experience in the elevator/escalator industry without a related bachelor’s degree. -Required to wear appropriate PPE -Exposure to typical jobsite conditions: noise, dust, and moving equipment -Confidently interpret construction drawings with minimal oversight. -Ability to move up to 50 lbs. and work in confined or elevated spaces -Must be able to traverse ladders and access hoist ways, pits, and mechanical rooms
