Tasks

-Provides technical information relating to transmission capacity capital content for investment planning processes, including business strategy, goals and work execution planning. -Oversees the strategic development and planning for PG&E’s transmission generation and load interconnections by providing leadership and direction for system design and capital program investments. Removes obstacles by building relationships across the organization with stakeholders and other departments. Identifies gaps in existing processes and drives process improvement. -Leads the development of key department capacity and reliability metrics to aid in strategic goal setting and work progression supporting support safe and reliable service to customers. -Stays abreast of developments across the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) systems to ensure PG&E’s rights or interests are not impacted. Promotes the future development of the transmission system and provides PG&E representation on transmission issues with key external stakeholders, municipal utilities, generators, neighboring utilities and others as required. -Represent PG&E at external engagements providing technical expertise and shaping discussions at industry forums on key policy and tariff initiatives related to load and generation interconnections. -Leads the development and management of Transmission Planning’s expense budgets, monitoring expenses against forecasts and explaining and/or justifying budget items and/or variances. -Leads the development of methodology, studies and evaluation of transmission system plans supporting emerging Company issues such as the impact of inclusion of transmission in power outages, resource adequacy and electrification. -Manages staff to accomplish results through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, rewards and recognition. -Supports the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during emergency situations such as power outages, major storms, heat waves, and earthquakes. -Provide strategic direction, technical training, and guidance to the Interconnection Planning team and internal stakeholders for generation and load interconnection deliverables for CPUC and FERC Jurisdictional projects. -Represents PG&E during regulatory proceedings and contract negotiations, including serving as PG&E witness at the CPUC, FERC and other regulatory areas. -Responsible for cross-functional communication on transmission related issues with key internal stakeholders (for example, Law, Substation and T-Line Engineering, System Protection, Operations Engineering, Project Managers, Asset Strategy, Distribution Planning, Energy Procurement) to provide for the safe, efficient and reliable operation of the PG&E transmission system. -Leads the development and evaluation of transmission system plans in area, regional and interconnection planning to support PG&E’s objectives to demonstrate compliance with NERC/WECC/CAISO Reliability Standards.

What You Bring

-10 years progressive experience developing transmission plans -Master’s in Electrical Engineering -Competency in interpreting and applying understanding of key financial indicators to make better business decisions -Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus in Power Systems. -Competency in making good and timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward -Competency in building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives -3 years leadership experience -Understanding of PG&E culture and knowledge of what departments are needed to partner with to accomplish this role’s operational objectives. -Excellent written and oral communication skills. -Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent related experience -Strong decision making and problem-solving skills. -Knowledge of applicable engineering principles, codes, regulations, policies, and procedure’s related to the industry and PG&E - for example FERC, NERC, CAISO, CPUC. -Strong understanding of project management concepts and practices. -Excellent interpersonal, influence, negotiation and collaboration skills. -Competency in providing direction, delegating, and removing obstacles to get work done -Strong leadership and presentation skills.
