Tasks

Develop and implement comprehensive sector and market plans to support strategic growth. Manage strategic accounts to ensure profitability and long-term partnership value. Identify new business opportunities and lead proactive pursuit activities across energy sectors. Build and maintain relationships with key clients, partners, and industry stakeholders. Lead and contribute to bid strategies, ensuring competitive positioning and client alignment. Collaborate with internal teams to align business development initiatives with delivery capability. Represent Assystem at industry events and contribute to thought leadership through publications and presentations. What You Bring

Proven track record in business development or client relationship management, ideally within the energy, engineering, or infrastructure sectors. We’re looking for a dynamic Business Development Director to lead and grow strategic client relationships, identify new business opportunities, and drive Assystem’s market position within the UK and global energy sectors. This senior role is critical to shaping our business strategy, expanding our client network, and ensuring our continued success in a rapidly evolving low-carbon landscape. The role can be based from any of our UK offices, but will require a degree of travel across the UK and occasionally internationally. These restrictions mean that factors such as your nationality, any nationalities you may have previously held, and your place of birth can restrict the roles you are eligible to perform within the organisation. All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks. Experience leading bids, proposals, and capture plans for complex technical projects. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Skilled in building partnerships and influencing at senior stakeholder level.
