The Role

Overview

Manage project costs, procurement and commercial reporting for local authority works

Tasks

-Engage proactively with internal stakeholders and external local authority representatives. -Support and mentor junior commercial staff, including apprentices, where required. -Procure, appoint, and manage subcontractors and supply chain partners. -Manage and monitor all project costs and income within your area of responsibility on building and civil engineering projects. -Provide accurate measurement, valuation, and reporting of works. -Contribute to financial forecasting, cost planning, and cash flow management. -Prepare bills of quantities, cost reconciliations, and schedules of rates in line with non-NEC contractual requirements. -Assist in the management of change, delay, and disruption impacts on projects. -Maintain professional standards through Continuing Professional Development (CPD). -Ensure compliance with company governance requirements, processes, and systems.

What You Bring

-Experience of using ERP/digital systems for cost management. -Professional membership (MRICS, MCInstCES, MCIOB) or working towards. -CSCS Card (Academically/Professionally Qualified). -BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent experience). -Experience working on non-NEC contracts, ideally within the public/local authority sector. -Strong understanding of cost control, measurement, and procurement processes. -Knowledge of local authority governance and reporting processes. -Proven experience in commercial management on building/civil engineering projects. -Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
